Ethiopia Farmer-led irrigation Multi-Stakeholder Dialogues: Value Chain Approaches to Small Scale Irrigation Development

May 27, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

The online seminar will convene actors across irrigated agricultural value chains in Ethiopia and discuss challenges and opportunities around the current market systems in those chains. Discussions between actors’ cross-over value chains, such as (i) irrigation equipment and service providers, (ii) input providers, (iii) producing actors, (iv) processors, (v) off-take market actors, and (vi) supporters and influencers who support value chains in various ways.
The session will facilitate interactive learning and collaboration between irrigated agricultural value chain actors and other stakeholders by sharing experiences, insights, and solutions – while providing updates on current ongoing initiatives both within Ethiopia as well as in the region and globally. The inter-related objectives of the meeting are to:

  • Identify the opportunities across value chain actors in supporting small scale farmers investing in irrigation and the roles that they can play.
  • Identify the potential for private sector investment into small scale irrigation and irrigated agricultural value chain.
  • Identify the barriers within the policy and regulatory frameworks hampering the value chains-actors and farmers from investing in irrigation.
